Show city approves "old town" funding The City Council has approved a budget providing for the expenditure of a $515,000 federal community development grant recently awarded to the City. The funds are appropriated through the Department of Housing and Urban Development and are to be used for physical improvements within the older sections of Park City. According to the budget adopted by the City Council May 17, expenditures will be made in five principal project areas. Under Project I, $220,000 has been appropriated for "housing and commercial building rehabilitation" within Park City's redevelopment district-Project district-Project II sets aside $59,000 for a - demolition program" to remove vacant, blighted structures within the redevelopment district on a voluntary basis. Under Project III, $47,000 will be spent for "capital improvements." Those improvements include primarily the replacement of dilapidated sidewalks and a retaining wall on Main Street and in Swede Alley. The fourth project area appropriates $91,000 for "acquisition and relocation." $86,000 will be spent to acquire two parcels of property in the central district of the City that presently pose hazards for motorists, and $5,000 for relocation.- Specifically, the New Deal Market building on upper Main Street will be purchased by the City, razed, and a more . accessible entrance to Swede Alley constructed. The final area of expenditure calls for $103,000 to be set aside to cover the costs of administrating the program (rent, salaries, supplies, etc.) ' |
