Show GET RID OF HIM. So a conference of Republican leaders has declared in favor of the resignation of Secretary Ballinger and the deposing of Speaker Cannon and the elimination of Senator Aldrich from a dominant position po-sition in the Republican party. While the Republican party is purging itself in the nation, why should not Utah Republicans begin a purification of the party in this state by casting off the burden of carrying men like Sutherland in high office? The senator is a corporation lawyer and has represented "the interests" in the Senate while misrepresenting the people of this state. With the people of other states ridding themselves of hirelings, why should ke be slow to act and why should we continue to be scoffed at through tolerating men of the stamp of Sutherland in the United States Senate? Sutherland, sworn to act as a judge in the Ballinger hearing, became be-came a special pleader for the accused and demonstrated his unfitness to serve on the committee. Ho is marked with the same taint that has made necessary the elimination of Ballinger from a cabinet posi- 1 tion. If Ballinger is so offensive to the party in the nation that he must be forced to resign, then should not Sutherland, Ballinger 's apologist, be equally as offensive to the Republicans of this State I and treated in the same manner? Utah Republicans should keep up with the progress in the na- j tion by relegating to obscurity the non-progressives of the stripe of Sutherland. |
