Show BEY AND ROGERS AGAIN N WORDY I COMBAT FORMER ACCUSES LATTER OF MAKING A FARCE OF TRIAL. Testimony Relates to Raids Upon Offices Of-fices of United Railroads Last March. San Francisco, May 28. Testimony i relating to the raids upon offices of the United Railroads last March accounted ac-counted for the greater part of today's to-day's session of tho trial of Patrick Calhoun. Two police sergeants, who executed search warrants Issued by a police Judge, (old of tho resistance offiered by attorneys and employes of tho corporation, and testified that safes and desks were forced open. Considerable irritation was manifested mani-fested by tho attorneys. 'Mr. Heney, upon one occasion, made reference to the conduct of Earl Rogers on the occasion oc-casion of tho raid, and Mr. Rogers said: "You cannot prove that, een by your facile swearers." "They cannot bo more facile in swearing than you hao been through your Luther Brown," retorted Mr. Heney. Later, Mr. Heney objected that Rogers Rog-ers was attempting to make a farce of the trial by laughing and jesting with witnesses. It was announced by the prosecution prosecu-tion that Attorney Hugh O'Neil, one of the men who is alleged to have, interviewed Detective Helms when the latter was on his way to this city, was served with a subpoena by agents of the prosecution today and will be called as a witness. |
