Show PITCHiD Willi One H undred Negroes, ThreeKilled, Five Wound3 ed, Fortyone Captured Guthrie, Okla., March 25. On the scene of the famous Creek Indian uprising up-rising of last year, at Hickory settlement, settle-ment, three negroes were killed, nve wounded and 41 negroes captured In a battle between 20 deputy sheriffs and 100 negroes. The fighting began late Wednesday afternoon and continued with interruptions until 1 o'clock today. to-day. A posse of five deputies went from Henrietta, 18 miles, to tho negro settlement set-tlement to arrest cattle thieves thought to be concealed in a negro's house. The deputies were met at the outer edge of the camp by a party or armed negroes, who refused to allow them to enter. The deputies persisted and were fired upon and retired. A few hours after the first clash a larger poseo. heavily armed,- reached the settlement. Someone tired a shot and the rioting was on. When night .fell the excitement increased and negroes roamed through tho woods firing guns and yelling. The fight continued as a series ot duol6 throughout the night. The negroes barricaded themselves in their huts and could not be dislodged. At daybreak firing ceased and neither party made any move until 10 o'clock, when the deputy sheriffs renewed their attack. About 300 shots were fired In the last encounter, wben .two negroes were killed and Deputy Sheriff Bowler was Injured. At the first onslaught the negroes were dislodged and lied.
