C Charges that the fishermen on tho Sacramento river have been malting exorbitant profits In the sale of striped bass by loading them, after cleaning, with lead or Iron weights, will be invciTtlgated at once, according to a letter mailed today by Charles G. Johnson, state superintendent of weights and measures. The letter was addressed to James Duffee. Sacramento county sealer of weights and measures, asking for the probe The letter says "It ls charged that the fishermen carefully removo the entrails and then load the fish with lead or Iron weights. They find this unique method of fraud lucrative with striped bass selling at 46 cents a pound." Complaints was made by San Francisco Fran-cisco fish merchants. |
