Show Record Breaking Number of Delegates Expected at Atlantic City ATLANTIC CITY, N. J May 1. South America will be brought into more intimate relations with tho United Unit-ed States, and with Canada, through tho convention of the International Association As-sociation of Rotary clubs, which Is to bo held hero on the steel pier during the wok of Juno 21. Tho Rotary club of Montevideo, Uruguay, possibly the most southern elb in the world to be represented, has sent a delegate. Herbert Her-bert P. Coates, secretary and charter member, who loaves this month In order or-der to arrive hero in time. Secretary Coates will tour Chile arid Peru en route in hope of commencing Rotary work in those countries. He will also visit Rotary clubs in Panama and In Cuba. The hotel reservation applications applica-tions received thus far """exceed the 6000 mark, with only about 50 per cent of the Rotary clubs In this country and abroad heard from at this time. It is expected thaht the attendance will bo far ln excess of that figure, in a record breaking convention. International Secretary Chesley R. Perry, and Past International Presidents Russel Greiu-er Greiu-er and E. Leslie Pldgeon, the latter of Winnipeg, sailed from New York today to-day for the British Isles for a whirlwind whirl-wind and characteristically American tour prior to .the big international gatherings here. Tbclr purpose is three-fold. They will visit Edinburgh, Scotland, where International Rotary has bepn Invited in 1921. Edinburgh Is a rival to Los Angeles and Boston in that contest The Rotary chiefs will Infuse Rotary spirit Into overseas clubs which may need it, and will arouse interest In the Atlantic City convention. It Is expected they will accompany the big delegation from the British Isles on the voyage lo New York and this city. Past President Pidgeon Is preparing the convention program. It will Include the formation forma-tion of an International league of Rotary Ro-tary nations, will deal with the problem prob-lem of the employer and employee, and the development of work among boys, which is emphasized by Rotary. |
