Los Angelos at Seattle, LOS ANGELES, May 1. The Bees! made tho series standing tfyree games to two in their favor by beating the Tigers this afternoon 6 to 3. Jack Bromley and Willie Mitchell, both left-handers, opposed each other on the rubber. For five rattling innings in-nings tho two crooked arm fiingers battled desperately, neither yielding anything to the opposition to speak of. In the sixth the Bees opened the scoring scor-ing with a pair, and they cinched the game in the eighth inning with four. A feature of tho game was the double dou-ble steal twice successfully engineered by Maggert and Johnson. In the eighth inning Johnson deliberately held first while Maggert went to third on an outfield out, In order that the twin steal might be executed, which it was. Joe Jenkins In the eighth knocked the ball into the right field bleachers scoring Reilly in advance of himself. The Bees broke off the lid in tho sixth inning, in which frame they made two. Reilly led off with a single Rnd advanced on two outs. Maggert was hit with a pitch. Johnson's hit to right scored Reilly and sent Maggert to third. The first of the double steals was then executed. Maggert scoring. The Tigers made one in the seventh on Borton's hit and Alcock's triple. In the eighth, with Reilly on by reason rea-son of a hit, Jenkins knocked a home run. Bromley singled, Maggert walked and Johnson singled, filling the bases. Krug flied out to Chadbourne. Rum-ler Rum-ler hit a sacrlfico flk to Alcock on which Bromley scored and Maggert went to third, Johnson holding first. These two did the double steal again. The Tigers made one in the ninth on two hits, a walk and an infield out. |
