Show GOVERNOR'S WIFE IS KILtED IN ACCIDENT WILMINGTON, Del., Oct 28. Governor Gov-ernor John T. Townsend, Jr., was slightly injured and his wife died shortly after when their automobile upset last night while running valong the Dupont boulovard. Mrs. Town-send's Town-send's death is believed to havo been due to shock. The governor was driving tho car and he and Mrs. Townsend were tho only occupants. Overtaken by a storm after passing Dagsboro, it was impossible to see far ahead. Suddenly a toam without lights loomed up ahead, and Governor Town-send Town-send clamped down the brakes in an effort to bring his car to a stop. The machino slipped off the stone section of the road and into the sand shoulder, turning over twlco and landing land-ing on Its side. Tho governor was thrown clear of tho machine and, though bruised and partly stunned, he lifted Mrs. Town-send Town-send from bonoath tho machino. Tho car was not resting on her body In such a manner as to crush or mangle it. Mrs. Townsend died within a few minutes, after, tho. accident |
