Show RIISS TO URGE " AW ARMISTICE Will Make Formal Proposal to All Belligerents, But Separate Separ-ate Peace Not Wanted. PETROGRAD, Wednesday, Nov. 21. The Russian government yesterday ordered General Dukhonln, the com-mander-in'Chlef, to open negotiations for an armistice with the commanders of the enemy armies. The proposal to negotiate peace was officially conveyed to the ambassadors of the Allied nations na-tions at Petrograd. I GENERAL IS DISPOSED LONDON, Nov. 22. An official wireless wire-less statement from Petrograd today says that General Dukhonln has been deposed by the council of the people's commissaries for "refusing to obey their orders by offering an armistice." PETROGRAD, Wednesday, Nov 21. Tho formal offer tof an armistice to all the belligerents which the council of people's commissaries of the All-Russian All-Russian workmen's and soldiers' congress con-gress proposes to make shortly is not intended to forecast any effort toward a separate peace. On the contrary, it is declared definitely defin-itely here that not only is separate peace not wanted but that the rejec tion of the peace offer by Germany, even should it be acceptable to the allies, would mean a continuation ol the war by the new revolutionary arm with vigor against German imperial ism until the German people, "in spired by Russian democratic ideas" overthrow their rulers and demand peace. Confidence is expressed here however, that Russia's initiative will l bring the desired results if not with the allied governments, then through the insistence of the people of th allied countries who, it is predicted will bring pressure to bear on theii governments. According to the Maximalist govern ment's plan, an armistice will be en tercd upon first and if it were success ful for three months it is proposed t( assemble a peace conference at whicl an attempt would be made to negotiat Russia's policy of a peace without an nexations or indemnities and the self determination of nations. |
