All German aliens, whether or not they hold government passes to re-i re-i strlcted zones, who are still employed after tomorrow will be Interned at the Ellis Island immigration Btation. Marshal Power said he was convinced con-vinced this measure was the only one which would put a stop to the water-1 front fires which have been numerous in Brooklyn since America entered tho war. There have been thirty-two of these and the damage has amounted to millions of dollars, representing loss of munitions and food intended for the entente allies. None of these has been tracod to German oricln, the marshal mar-shal said, but virtually all of them were of incendiary character, in the opinion of Investigators. I The marshal added that elimination of all German aliens from the vicinity of marine, Industrial and manufactur-j ing districts would minimize tho chances of important naval and military mili-tary information reaching Germany through spies. nn |
