Show ! Make Craft Resemble Trawlers"' in Hazy Weather to Deceive Ship Lookouts. A GULF TORT, Aug. 4. German U-boat commanders are still making effectivo use of the ruse of disguising disguis-ing their craft with sails to resemble trawlers during hazy weather, according accord-ing to Capt. H. B. Thompson of the tank steamer John D. Archbold, which was sunk June 16. Capt. Thompson Is now master of a steamer docked hero. The Archhold sighted a vessel of two masts and one sail about six miles away on the afternoon tho tanker was sunk. Although suspicious of tho vessel ves-sel CapL Thompson said he was not certain of its Identity until , the craft submerged with sail set. Thereupon tho Archbold changed her course, but was sunk two hours later by a torpedo that killed three of her crew. |
