Show NEWSUGAR FACTODY PROPOSED FOR WEBER George M. Cannon Says He Has Secured Acreage to Guarantee Building. The proposition was made to me early in December to build in time for the crop of 1917, a Sugar Factor in Davis or Weber county, provided I could secure three year contracts to grow for the new factory four thou sand acres of sugar beets. I immediately took the matter up with prominent residents of the dis-i dis-i (nets affected. Quite strong represen-i represen-i tations were mado to me to locale tin factory In Davis county. However, the idea ot the men who intended to fur-nlsh fur-nlsh the monej to build the factory is to select the site most suitable for factory purposes, and that would be-most be-most convenient to the greatest number num-ber of farmers, and that could receive ihe greatest number of beels by wagon wag-on load Investigation has satisfied me that a point within one mile of the present terminus of the Hooper spur of the 1 1 & R. C Railroad, meets these re qulrements Our proposition is not one for the sale of stock, but is simply one of obtaining ob-taining the requisite four thousand acres of beet contract. We appreciate the hearty welcome given us for the farmers and business men of Weber county. We have received re-ceived sufficient guarantees (some verbal, but mostly in form of three-year three-year written beet contracts) to warrant war-rant me in saying unqualifiedly, that the new factory will be built a1 once. Our representatives are already in ihe East making final arrenge ments for the building of the factory. A site will be definitely located and secured, and building preparations will ; begin as soon as weather conditions j will permit. We will perform every promise I have made to the farmers and rely upon their performance of their agreements, to complete the agreed contracts in return. We ask the co-operation of every district in the County that feels thai healih, but not destructive competi Lion is a good thing. The factory will be of the most up-to-date type, and of sufficient capacity to use all beets that the farmers will! contract to deliver to us. The location chosen is between the Layton and Ogden factories, about equal distance from each, and yet will be distinctively tributary to Ogden City. The latter is to the people of Hooper the center of their business activities. Good roads, and long established es-tablished business relations make Hoopei a suburb of Ogden. The building of the factory will es-tahlish es-tahlish . many other business enter- |
