Show oo ARMY TO RETURN TO THE BORDER Columbus. N. M.. Jan. 7 Artillery Infantry and quartermaster commands in General Pershing's punitive expedition expe-dition may be brought to vhe border over the Mexico Northwestern, instead in-stead of overland from Colonla Dub-Ian. Dub-Ian. Mexico, to Columbus. The transportation of the less mobile mo-bile forces over the Mexican railroad are being discussed here as a possibility possi-bility by army officers. The officers here differ, however, as to the expediency expe-diency of ihe arrangement at this time, and some of the officers at the field base believe that General Pershing Per-shing will make the march from Colo-nia Colo-nia Dublan to the border as he did going go-ing into Mexico. Should arrangements be made for bringing the artillery, infantry in-fantry commands and military truck companies they would come overland to the border. Everything here Is in readiness to receive the troops. Corrals have been provided for the cavalry and pack animals, quartermaster store houses erected and much other preparatory pre-paratory work done several weeks ago In anticipation of the order from ihe war department for the rule of the troops. Orders are expected from Washington soon to complete this preliminary pre-liminary steps. |
