Show DEL11B0UEIMT TAXES TO GALL FOR 3 PEA CENT INCREASE ' Receiving the assessment books from the county auditor earlier than usual, County Treasurer Joseph Storey has mado out the annual tax notices, which give not only the assessment, as-sessment, but the amount of tax, at an earlier date than required by law. Tho law provides that the assessment assess-ment books shall be given to the county treasurer not later than September Sep-tember 20, but tho Weber county treasurer received them In ample time to mako out the tax notices and prepare them for mailing by September Septem-ber 20. 'Some of the notices have been mailed to taxpayers, Mr. Storey says, and all others will bo posted next Monday. The treasurer has engaged a largo number of extra clerks to make out the notices and he states that about 20,000 notices have been prepared. By getting out the notices ahead of time, the taxpayers will bo given more tlmo to arrange for the payment of taxes. Taxes under the new law become delinquent December 4, after which tlmo a charge of 3 per cent will be sxacted for cost of publication and jthor expenses incident to the col-ectlon col-ectlon of delinquencies. ". r poses In county, state and city, amounts to 41.8 mills on the dollar, or 4.18 each 100 of valuation, and 28.8 mills on the dollar on property in the county outside of the city, or $2.88 on every 9100 of valuation. Aside from this tax. property owners in certain rural districts will pay a tax of 5 mlllB for road purposes and stockmen will pay 4 mills on range cattle and horses, and 5 mills on ' sheep. |
