Show SPARLING FOUND GUILTY. Twin Falls, Ida., Nov. 4. The trial 6f A. L. Sparling, charged with defrauding de-frauding Mrs. Orleana D. Manhard of this city in a purported sale of stock in an Oregon land and livestock company, com-pany, was begun on Monday jnorning in the district court and closed today, when the jury rendered a verdict of guilty after deliberating twenty-one hours. Judge Babcock will pronounce sentence Saturday. The penalty for this offense is imprisonment im-prisonment in the penitentiary for a term of from one to fourteen years. The case has attracted considerable attention here because of the social prominence of the complaining witness. wit-ness. Sparling spent some time here during the summer and was given considerable con-siderable attention socially. He was arrested In Boise early in September upon charges preferred by Mrs. Man-nard Man-nard and came at once to Twin Falls, accompanied by Judge Wood of Boise. Unable to furnish $1500 bond, he was held In jail to await trial. Sparling was hurt in the automobile accident in Salt Lake this summer In which Robs Cartee or Boise was fatally injured. |
