Show ATHLETES PETITION UNION OFFICIALS New York, Nov. 5. Officials of the Amateur Athletic union have received a petition signed by ten American all-around all-around athletes and by athletic officials offi-cials and trainers asking that the all-around all-around championship be restored and substituted for the Decathlon compe tition in the Union's championship program. The all-around championship champion-ship consists of tho 100 yard run, 880 yard walk, 120 yard hurdles, running broad jump, running high jump, pole vault, hammer throw, shot put and putting the 5G-pound weight. The petitioners asserted that the Decathlon is an unbalanced competition competi-tion in which tho restrictions placed upon the specialist and tho runner by the half mile walk and 5G pound weight contest have been removed. They also add that tho endurance factor fac-tor has been eliminated by distributing distribut-ing the events over two days. Athletes Ath-letes from Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Boston signed the petition It will bo considered at tho annual meeting this month. |
