Show j WORLD S MARKETS New York, Jan. 29. Liquidation ln United States Steel and other active issues, partly for foreign account, caused severe declines in today's stock market. Losses of 2 to 5 points were numerous. New York. Jan. 29 United States Steel common, whose minimum prirp waa reduced from 4.. to 40 after thr close of yesterday s stock marker session, ses-sion, opened today with one lot of 7500 shares at 40 1-2 to 40, Immediately Immedi-ately followed by two lots aggregating aggregat-ing 2700 shares at 40 1-4. Total sales ln the first 15 minutes exceeded 30.000 shares, the high quotation being 40 1-2. The preferred stock declined a small fraction. Other active stocks, as well as many specialties, improved over yesterday's close, there being substantial gains in leading railways and Amalgamated Copper. Sugar shares were again strong. Pressed Steel Car lost 4 points. Boston Wool Market. Boston, Jan. 29. The commercial bulletin will say tomorrow. "The wool market has been fairly active and stronger this week. Demand De-mand has covered about every grade and class of wool to be obtained in the market and both fine and medium wools are higher "Advices from tho foreign primary markets and from London tell of higher high-er prices both on fine and medium wools, with American buyers operating operat-ing keenly, both ln Australia and London."
