Show FIVE HUNDRED CHILDREN HAPPY Orphans of German Soldiers Receive Their Share of American Christmas Gifts. CHEER UNITED STATES Warm Clothing, Shoes and Toys With Four Marks Given Each Child. Berlin, via London, Jan 29 U 22 P m Five hundred children of soldiers sol-diers from Berlin who fell in batth-were batth-were made happy on Wednesday by the receipt of their share of the Christmas presents sent to Europe bj children of America. This belated bela-ted Christmas celebration was held in the arena of one of the great enclosed en-closed rinks of the German capital. A pair of shoes, warm clothing and ltos were given to each child in ; pasteboard box. Through the generosity gen-erosity of Jacques Mayer, an American Ameri-can resident of Berlin, each child received re-ceived also four marks ($1) in cash, Americans Distribute Gifts. Mrs James W. Gerard, wife of the American ambassador, and Mrs Mayer May-er presided over the distribution of the gifts and were assisted by tin-Women's tin-Women's Patriotic association and the American women's relief commit toe. The exercises were attended by Representatives of Empress Aupnistn Victoria and Crown Princess Cecelie, the members of the staffs of the American embassy and the American consulate and many prominent Germans.
