Show CUMMINS URGES I REORGANIZATION I Bright Hope for Future of Re-publican Re-publican Party After Over- fH whelming Defeat. jH Des Moines. la., Dec. 31. Adher ence to the program for the re-org anlzatlon of the Republican party de- J termined upon at the recent meeting of the Republican National Commit- J tee In Washington, was urged by Sen-ator Sen-ator Albert B. Cummins In an address H I before the Grant Club here last night The senator declared that he had H not changed his mind as to the sup-erlorlty sup-erlorlty of his own plan for an ex- H traordlnary convention of the Repub- H llcan party to adjust the matter of rules and representation, but he re- H cognized that the proposed conven-tion conven-tion was 'a means to an end, and H that the changes themselves were the substantial things to be accomplish- H ed." He accepted the action of the :H National Committee as a fair fulfill ment of the demand for re-organtza- iH With reference to the third party jH movement Senator Cummins said he H could not concur In the conclusion that true "Progresslveism" necossltat-c-d the formation of that party. jH "While the Republican party is iH now suffering the consequences of Its extreme and overwhelming de-feat," de-feat," he said, "to me which there H has never been a day in Its career so bright with hope as the day just jH closed. When It returns to power, as I confidently believe It will In the IH rear future, It cannot be otherwise than true to the mission it was born to fulfill. Now and then it may linger along the road, because the voters JH themselves become Indifferent or ap- JH athetic.
