Show TERMS OF MILITIA BILL ACCEPTED Washington, Jan. 15. Secretary Garrison nnd Adjutants General representing re-presenting the National Guard organizations organi-zations of more than thirty states, agreed todav upon the terms of the proposed Militia baybill, under which the Federal government would provide pro-vide pay for militiamen, who in turn would enlist as "Federal reservists" subject to the call of the President to duty either within the United States or abroad. It is proposed that the militia bill thall provide an annual appropriation appropria-tion of $14,500,000. Of this $4,000,000 would be expended for encampment and' maneuver purposes. $8,000,000 is for home service pay, and $2,500,000 for armament and equipment. Secretary Garrison will lay a draft of the measure before President Wil son with an explanation ot what tno Federal government may expect in return for the money appropriated. If the President gives his endorsement, endorse-ment, the bill will go before Congress as an administration measure. The commltteo which conferred with Secretary Garrison today consisted con-sisted of Brigadier General Martin, Texas; Brigadier General Stewart, Pennsvlvania; Brigadier General Sadler Sad-ler New Jersey and Brigadier General Gen-eral Young, Illinois, Brigadier Gen-oral Gen-oral Crowder, Judge advocate general of the Army and Brigadier General Mills, chief of the division of the Militia affairs, were present. |
