Show AMENDED COTTON BILL PASSES SENATE Washington, March 2S After striking strik-ing out tho amendment legalizing pooling, the senate today rc-passed the bill to regulate trading in cotton futures. The pooling amendment legalized the pooling or cotton and the making of a stipulation not to sell on an ex-chango ex-chango dealing in cotton futures. The bill as passed yesterday with a provision to legalize the pooling of cotton to raise prices, was reconsidered reconsider-ed on the motion of Senator Smith of South Carolina, its author, because of objections. It was at first proposed to let the bill stand with assurances that the house would strike out the provision, but that plan was finally rejected. Senator Kenyou declared the provision, pro-vision, in his opinion legalized what the supreme court condemned as a violation of the Sherman law in the cases against James A.Patten and others oth-ers who were changed with agreeing to pool cotton and withhold It from the New York cotton exchange.
