Show WOMAN SOLDIER IN STATE ASYLUM Sex Discovered in Soldiers Home by Surgeon Served in Grant's Army. Quincy, 111., March 28. Little "Albert" "Al-bert" Cashier, Iho woman soldier, today to-day was taken to the state asylum for the insane at Watertown, 111. She was born In Irelaud 73 years ago and came to America, as a stowaway in boy's clothes. She enlisted in company G, 95th Illinois Infantry and was assigned assign-ed to General Grant's army, participating participat-ing in some of the bloodiest battlos of the Civil war. She later came to the soldier's home here and her sex was discovered by a surgeon at that Institution, although a nurse knew her secret. |
