Show ARRESTED ON CHARGE OF OPENING A LETTER W. C. Barrett, a local hotel employe, em-ploye, was arrested by Detective G. Wardlaw about 8 a. m. today on Twenty-fifth street, between Hudson and Grant avenues. The man was taken In on. complaint of his employer employ-er on suspicion of having opened a letter in which had been placed a 150 check and of taking the check from it. After the arrest, the detective detec-tive got a confession in which Barrett Bar-rett Implicated another man. According to the Barrett's employer, employ-er, the prisoner was given the letter to mail about two weeks ago and, up to the present time, the writer had not received an answer to it. He suspicioned that something was wrong and reported It to the police department. depart-ment. Detective Wardlaw was put on the case a couple of days ago and landed his man this morning. Barrett was arrested by Detective Wardlaw once before on a charge of passing worthless checks, but was allowed al-lowed to make good the amounts out of which he had "filched" his victims and was treated leniently by the authorities. au-thorities.
