Show SELLS OUT INTERESTS TO UTAHNA opposition leaves ogden people and northwest ern association in control and is off for denver from wednesdays standard after all the talk put up by W R gourlay ane erstwhile manager of the salt lake utahna tae aier the ferth western theatrical association came out with flying colors at the stockholders meeting held in salt lako last night W R gourlay after his grandstand play sold ats holdings over to the association for a smaller palca than that paid for the other stock previously acquired by the syndicate his own statement notwithstanding manager R A grant came up from salt lake on the midnight train last night and ben interviewed later on stated that everything had been wound up satisfactorily that all the stock excepting shares had been bought up and the owner of these shares was simply holding out far a fancy price he stated that the statement published in these columns concerning the trouble monday was true but that tho contention was over a door leading from the office to the theater tha salt lake contingent told the northwestern people that they could have nothing to do with the theater As a matter of fact the office as the place where all the business of the place was transacted but they were desirous of having the door open sa that they could see into the theater this the warring element of zion strenuously objected to and they arrayed thirty two of their loyal supporters against the eight of the northwestern contingent mr grant said there were no blows struck in the arguments which followed the association found that tasy could keep us from gaining possession for perhaps three weeks said mr grant and they deemed it best to buy up the stock which act was accomplished on monday evening and while this stock was not turned over to our people until after the meeting last evening the holders of the same voted with the northwestern people the amount of stock purchased was close to 10 shares and was paid for in cash the stock that was purchased from mr gourlay and the others continued mr grant was purchased at a very satisfactory pries part being pur chased by the northwestern association aad part by ogden people aur people look charge of the property last evening ahen W B egan formerly manager of the st paul theater of the association was placed in the position of local manager of the park during the present season at the close of which he will assume the local management of the theater the salt lake bouso will be called the lyric and will open on august 26 with the colonial belles as an attraction the work of decorating and finishing the theater will bs corn fenced at once and rushed through to completion mr braat then made a significant statement which was to the effect that an entire new force of employed emp loyes would be installed in fact said he a portion of the new force as put on last night the association people were evidently pleased that deal had been closed the complete ousting of gourlay was what has been anticipated tor some time even before he made known that he was going to fight the syndicate it would asem that gourlay anticipated this result as he has arranged to go to denver the last ot this week where it is stated that he intends opening up a saucer rack The election hald at the meeting last evening resulted in 0 M runyon boing elected president R A grant vice president and george J kelly secretary all of these officers are from this city and they together alth john cort of seattle and tancia dick sutton of butte form the board of directors the changing of the bylaws by laws at a previous meeting whereby three instead of four a working quorum of the board of directors thereby becomes significant inasmuch as by the selecting of all ogden peo pie tor officers and a majority of the board gives them a working quorum all the time here after the meeting mr cor manager of the association left for denver and mr sutton will remain in salt lake tor the balance of the week manager grant will go back and forth here and alon to see that air is being done as 11 should be and according to the northwestern peoples ideas |
