Show STOLE BRASS FROM TBE SHOPS William Green, a stalwart young man, stood up In police court today and pleaded guilty to a charge of petit larcenv, it being claimed that he stole 310 worth of old brass from a box a.t the railroad shops. He then proceeded to unravel a real fairy tale. He said that he stole the brass to get money to buy shoes, declared that ho hadn't worked for over four years, and claimed that his father refused to give him a job on the section. When asked If he had ever served time in jail for anything, he said that he served a year about four years aco for stealing. He further stated that Ijo had been loafing for four years because he did not like to work. Special Officer McMillan then informed in-formed the court that Green confessed to having stolen brass from the shops on fifty different occasions. "And," continued Mr. McMilJan, "the defendant defend-ant does not know how to read, and he does not know the difference between be-tween three and fifty. I believe he Is totally Irresponsible, and I think the case deserves careful invesitgation." Upon learning the facts from Mr. McMillan, ihe judge took the case under advisement. |
