Show MAN KILLS AND THEN SUICIDES Phoenix, Ariz., May 7. Today's session ses-sion of the state legislature was interrupted in-terrupted by a" murder and suicide. Tho Inwmakcrs heard two shots in tho rotunda of the capitol building, and, running from tho legislative chambers, found a man standing over the body of Malcolm Gillette, whom ho had JiiBt shot and killed. Before they could reach tho slayer, he shot himself In tho head and 'died Instantly. No motive mo-tive for the crime could be learned. Gillette, who was 34 years old, was for many years chief clerk In the office of-fice of the surveyor general of Arizona Arizo-na and was well known locally In Republican Re-publican politics. A search of tho raau'B pockets disclosed dis-closed the fact that he was Finley Coffmnn, who came to Arizona for his health. He was Interested ln a real estate transaction, which Involved some dlsputo over titles and survoya. It Is believed he was Insane. Tho man's namo was signed to a brief notegiving directions for tho disposal of his body. Other lotters found In bis pocket were addressed to Ben Coffman, Sacramento, Cal., and John Armstrong, Sacramento. |
