The new manager's combination vaudeville-motion picture show was inaugurated inaug-urated boforc an audience surprisingly surprising-ly largo In view of the fact that there wero so many countor attractions In tho city The bill consists of five reels of an excellent variety of pictures and two acts which would be pleasing if for no othor reason than that they add tone to an otherwise worthy evening'? entertainment. Miss Grace Walters, who Is not unknown to Ogdonitos, i3 a pretty, clever songstress who would grace any bill. She has a good voice and uses It well, and will havo many moro adralrora beforo the end of the week. Goode and Duerr are tho othor performers per-formers and tholr act consists of a melange of singing, hurlesquo and in-otrumontal in-otrumontal music rondered by the male member of tho duo. Perhaps the most striking of the pictures last night was one entitled "The Hands," dealing with a maniac who had murdered his wife. Ho escapes es-capes from the asylum following the visit of a woman and the story of his pursuit of her and efforts to stran gle her to death as it unfolds n the picture, is a most growsome one. The two vaudeville turns will con- tlnuo throughout tho week, but tho pictures will change very night. AT THE LYCEUM. The Lyceum Theater Musical Comedy Com-edy company, headed by Samuel Loeh, offers this week a two-act musical ox travnganza entitled "The King of Al-abaxu." Al-abaxu." The play deals with a Jew who finds himself upon a lonoly island isl-and and endeavors to make the most Of hla surroundings. In company with an Irish soldier of-fortune ho wanders into the nearest vlllago, where he U hailed as the succcBBor to tho king, who recently fled. Ho Is Introduced to the queen of Patagonia, and a matrimonial alliance arranged upon condition that If she dies he is to be burled alive In tho same grave with hor. He agrees to the terms and no soonor does the wedding take place than the queen's health begina to fail. Thereafter Sam Loeb has plenty to worry about, and his song, "I Should Worry." is the hit of tho show. "Take It Nice ahd Easy" and "Kiss, Kiss, Kiss," as sung by Miss Celesto Brooks are tho catchiest numbers on the bill The musical program Is a brisk ona and tho play is entertaining.
