Show VACATION DAYS ARE ' ENDED Summer's vacation for tho school boy, and tho school girl, as well, end- ed yesterday and the season nt educational edu-cational study Is here again. Ogden schools opened this morning. While not even an approximate number of the bchool children enrolled en-rolled in tho grade and high schools of tho city could be secured at tho superintendent's otficc this morning, It was announced that tho enrollment bids fair to bo larger this year than last. All of the teachers engaged for the season roported at the various schools for duty and the number or pupils entering the schools for tho ensuing year will probably be given out tomorrow. Superintendent J. M Mills, In speaking or the opening of the schools, stated that there could bo little doubt that . tho enrollment would be larger this year than last. The Increase will be most noticeable, he said, In the high school and the higher classes of tho graded schools This means thaL while the number of children entering tho first grade or schools may not be larger, there I' a tendency to keep children In school for n longer length of time. This fact, while showing no increase in the general population of Ogden, nat-urallv nat-urallv Increases the enrollment and makes for the higher education of tho city's children The children -eally Bpent little time In the schoo; b.illdlngs today and no real study as taken up. As Is customary, cus-tomary, tho classes were merely formed, the pupils onrolled and nr-rongements nr-rongements made for the supplying of text books. During the afternoon the 'children remainpd at home to enjoy thi-lr last taste of vacation period. Actual work will begin In tho schools tomorrow. |
