Show rSALT LAKE COUNCIL W PROBE GRAFT CHARGES SALT IAKB, sopt. 4. The city council will meet tomorrow night In committee of the whole to investigate thc charges made against Detectives R J. Goldlng and H. F. Wilson for their alleged part in procuring 5200 from A. S. Ross for the recovery by George Sheets of certain property stolen from the Ross home. On August 30, Chief of Police S..M. Barlow suspended the two detectives for fifteen days without pay to investigate investi-gate the affair and ascertain whether or not the chief was justified in his action that the hearing before the council will be held. The detectives clalm'that they did hot receive a cent of the money for themselves; that the whole amount was paid to private Detective George A. Sheets. They claim that their suspension sus-pension was prompted by Jeulousy of other members of the department. All witnesses and the suspended men havt been notified to appear tomorrow to-morrow night to tell what they know of the affair. The Fernstrom liquor ordinance Is the onlv other matter of Importance to come before the council The Mc-Kinney Mc-Kinney resolution providing that thpre be no change in the saloon district will come 'up In connection with the Fernstrom ordinance. |
