Show BURGLAR FAILS TO ENTER STORE When the Badcon drug store at 2I2L Washington avenue was opened or business yesterday morning It was discovered dis-covered thnt an attempt had been made by burglars to gain an entrance to the place during tho night The evidence was such as to leave the im pression mat it was the work of amateurs, ama-teurs, and It Is barely possible that some drug victim, bein unable to buy his "hop," attempted to nelp himself. A hole had been cut In tne panel of the rear door just over a lock, but fortunately for-tunately this lock was not Used to secure se-cure the door, it being .fastened with an ordinary bolt and a bar above the lock. The hole was large enough to admit a hand, and It is believed that when the burglar discovered his mistake mis-take he dtrocted his attention to the windows. On both lear windows were marks where a "Jimmy" had been, insertod Under the lower sash, but the attempt to gain an entrance in this manner was also unsuccessful. An iron key, such as is used In railroad equipment for fastening brake shoes to beams, was found outside the rear door. This instrument had evidently been used as a "jimmy." |
