Show jj ; BRIDGES ON DOUBLE TRACK Six miles of the grade work for tho double tracking of the Oregon Short Lino between this city and Farming-ton,' Farming-ton,' has been completed and the laying of steel will begin wRhln n few days Tho completed part of tho grading Is at the Farmlngton end of tho lino, I tho finished grado oxtendlng north to a point betwoon Kaysvllle a.nd Lay-ton Lay-ton Had it not been for a dolay In the arrival of rails, tho track-laying would have been started about two weeks ago This work has been carried car-ried on undor the' personal supervision supervi-sion of B F Noltcn, assistant engineer en-gineer under Chlof Engineer Carl Stradley. Engineer Nolton expects to begin track laying just as soon as tho steel arrives and, with .the equipment equip-ment on hand, will be able to lay more than a mllo of track a day. It Is estimated that tho work of grading on the Oregon Short Lino can be completed within the next sixty six-ty days and, as tho laying of track Is a much smaller task than tho grading, grad-ing, Its completion will not bo far bohlnd that of the grading. It Is thought likely that the entire work of double tracking the line to Farmlngton Farm-lngton will bo finished before the Interference In-terference of winter So far as tho work of track laying Is concerned, the entlro stretch" of eighteen miles can bo completed In a corresponding ' number of days or flpen a shorter space of time. The steel for tho construction of n second Oregon Short Lino bridge ovor the Weber river Is being unloaded today to-day and this work will be started Monday, Mon-day, under tho supervision of Assistant Assist-ant Engineer Trout of Pocatello, who arrived In Ogden yetserday afternoon. In the building of this new span, a concrete base will be built abutting the present base of the single-track bridge, to that the new structure will really form a part of the old ono, tho span merely being enlarged to accommodate ac-commodate two tracks Instead of one. On the Southern Pacific, between this city and Lltlo Mountain, tho double-track work Is progressing In a very satisfactory raannor A pllo drivor for use In 'adding another section sec-tion to the bridge over the Weber river was taken to the sceno of tho work this morning and tho construction construc-tion of this span will begin Monday or Tuesday. This bridge will bo, similar sim-ilar In structure to the one on tho Oregon Short Line. The spur which was built for the convenience ofvthe graders Is completed and tho work of laying track .will bo started on this strip of road within a few days. |
