Show (JOQETY SURPRISED BY FRIENDS. Friends and relathos of Mr. and Mrs F. O Hales assembled at their home, 1950 Jackson avenue, Wednesday Wednes-day evening, and surprised them by holding an Impromptu party, in which music and song were indulged in, delicious de-licious refreshments served Jind the evening otherwise passed in social recreation. Mr and Mrs. Hales have purchased a farm in Idaho and, upon the ec of their departure for the Gem state, it was considered fitting that a party be held in their honor The occasion was a complete surprise sur-prise to Mr and Mrs Hales Thoy had no inkling that their friends were going to do them the honor until tho band of merrymakers appeared at their home, laden with good things. Those who attended the party were. Messrs and Mesdames J E. Cave, J W. Llndstrom, Jake Johnson, D. K. Stuart, Thomas H. Reeder, Fred Sum-merlll, Sum-merlll, O. M. Sanderson and Harry Hales: Mrs. Hales and Mrs. Mary C Flygare; Miss Anna Donovan and Mr. Lorenzo Hales. ELECTION HELD. The annual election of the Ladies Llternry Society was hold Wednesday afternoon, at the home of Miss Florence Flor-ence Wright. The following officers wore chosen: Mrs. W. C. Wright, president; Mrs. Joseph Thomas, vice-president; vice-president; Mrs. E T. Clark, secretary; Mrs M. J. Thomas, corresponding secretary; sec-retary; Miss Floronco Wright, treasurer, trea-surer, and Mrs. Joseph Wright, libarl-an libarl-an and reporter After the election of the officers an afternoon of recreation was begun. Mrs, Josoph Thomas carried away the prize at high-five, several delightful solos by Mrs. Wm. AlliBon and Mrs Culley were thoroughly enjoyed and a delicious light lunch was" served. Tho guests of the club for the afternoon after-noon were Mrs. W. D. Brown and Mrs. Wm. Allison. Miss Laura Smith of Salt Lake City has beon the guest of Miss Viola Carr for the past two weeks. Mrs. M. J. Planz and Mrs. L. B. Best were surprised yesterday by a short visit from their cousin, Mr. Edward Brad,shnw, whom they had not seen for twonty-ijve yoars. Mr Bradshaw left this morning for Nevada, Ne-vada, where he has some mining interests. in-terests. oo |
