Show JUAREZ PREPARING TO RESIST REBEL ATTACK EL PASO, April 13. Juarez is prepared pre-pared to make a determined defense if the Insurrectos are really coming from Casas Grandes to attack. It Is stated by .officials of tho Mexico Northwestern line that there are no locomotives now on tho south end and that tho Insurrocto6 cannot come on n train. In this case no attack can possibly bo made for several days. Soldiers were busy today digging trenches on tho outskirts of Juarez and preparing to resist any attack that might be made. They were also preparing to mount a field gun on a slight eminence near the city. Insurrecto junta officials do not believe be-lieve the attack is going to be made on Juarez soon and declaro that their army is still In the vicinity of Madera, 200 miles south. It is generally believed be-lieved and in some circles it is said to be the positive program, that the insurrectos mean to await the outcome of the fight at OJinaga, east of hero, before attacking Juarez. They now have several two-pounders, a rapid fire and 12-pounder, the latter tho old cannon stolen from El Paso. These are to be used on Juarez. Tho principal defense of the Juarez garrison, if the attack Is made, will be bo inside the city, regardless of protest pro-test registered by business men with General Navarro. Confirmation is given by the postmaster post-master In Juarez that General Antonio Anton-io Rabago has started from Chihuahua with cavalry for the relief of Juarez. Rabago's forces hve been on the road two days, according to the postmaster. The Insurrecto junta and sympathizers sympathiz-ers at EI Paso were elated this afternoon aft-ernoon by receipt of the news of the Insurrecto capture of Agua Prleta In Sonora. The insurrecto band which has Infested In-fested Ixjs Reves. the mining camp on the border of Durango and Zncat-ecas, Zncat-ecas, is still active In that vicinity. Eight men who claimed to be a part of a band of 115 visited the camp of Darroux Brothers, and demanded arms and money. They secured nothing, however, It being explained that there was nothing in the camp. This same band on the previous night camped at the Molina hacienda nearby, and confiscated con-fiscated all 'the corn and feed besides filling a number of steers. This same outfit held up a mining man, .named SchuJte, at his camp, ln'Cerro Prleto, three kilometers from Son Juan do Guadalupe. They secured about $220 and n revolver. |
