Show I rl J Lv lu L 14 J MAIE A BIT Tho Strollers Vaudeville company, an organization of local playerb showed show-ed to a large and enthusiastic aud-lcnco aud-lcnco at the Fifth Ward amusement hall Wednesday evening. The program pro-gram was varied and entertaining enough to ploase tho most critical of vaudeville patrons, ranging from farce-comedy farce-comedy to pathos. Tho principal number Is the gently humorous playlet by Wm Dean Howclls, entitled "A Letter of Introduction" Intro-duction" In which each player has an excellent opportunity to display talenL Miss Minnie Brown was very fortunately for-tunately cast, and played her role with grace and dignity. Mr. Jack Reeve as tho English visitor visi-tor was exceedingly good, bringing his la'ugh at every point. Mr. Moroni Olsen has his oppor tunity in the pathetic monologue. In which he was assisted by six of the popular girls in the Fifth Ward, who posed as pictures .Mr. Olsen has established es-tablished a reputation as comedian, and is fast building another reputation reputa-tion as a serious actor. The young ladles assisting Mr. Olsen were Miss Marlon Browning. Miss Flora Eccles, Miss Ortel Rich, Miss Gwenna Shack-eray. Shack-eray. Miss Cora Volker and little Mamie Haherson and Miss MInnLc Brown. Miss Clara Peterson, who first came Into notice by playing "Resignation." "Resigna-tion." tho character part in the comic opera "Pricllla" several years ago, 'is now recognized as the best femalo character player In Ogden, and her little girl part last evening was no exception to the rule, Mr Wilford Shurtliff, cartoonist, drew somo excellent sketches accompanying accom-panying himself with a running flro of wit, which .together with the droll subjects of his ready pencil, kept tho audience In a gale of laughtor. Miss Frances Van Busklrk, whoso bfauty .and musical talent are well known, supplied the vocal numbers of the evening, the faorite being a glorious soprano solo, "Night and Day" Miss Van Busklrk's success Tas greatly added to by her rapid changes from one beautiful costume to another. The ontertalnment last night was for the benefit of tho Fifth Ward Gymnasium. |
