C, Feb. 1C Details of ' the execution of Denjlro Kntoku, his wife and ten other conspirators convicted con-victed of plotting aaginst the lifo of the emperor, are given by Japanese newspapers received last night. I Before the execution, a Buddhist priest visited Kotoku and offered to Inter the remains of the party in tho graveyard of his temple nnd offer dally prayers for the repose of their souls. Katoku, answering for his comrades, said they did not believe in a soul aud asked that their bodies be cremated and the ashes scattered to the winds. The woman left a wish that a European coffin be given her. The bodies were handed over to the relatives. At the funeral of one of the men at Okubo twenty policemen halted the procession and told the relatives, friends and journalists accompanying ac-companying the remains to disperse. They refusod to do so, and the police followed, finally driving part of the number away. When the bodies were cremated nnd the ashes were being taken away hy friends the police again interfered. nn . |
