Mil- ler. 1S1 Twenty-third street, when the Rov. E. I. Goshen of Salt Lake united in the holy bonds of matrimony, matri-mony, their daughter. Miss Mamto Miller Mil-ler and James Pctrle of Opal, Wyoming. Wyo-ming. Miss Estella Miller and Vego Miller attending as nrldesmnld and best man. After the nuptial ceromony, a sumptuous sump-tuous wedding breakfast was served. Onlv tho close friends and immediate immedi-ate relatives of 'the brldo and groom witnessed tho ceremony. Congratulations Congratula-tions and host wishes together with appropriate remembrances were offered offer-ed and happy wedding auguries were a pleasant feature. SOCIAL EVENT FOR WASHINGTON'S BIRTHDAY. "Seeing America" 13 the title of an unique and elaborate social affair to bo given -by the ladles of the Fiirst Methodist church on Washington's Birthday. It will bo no less than a tour of the land of Washington. Starting Start-ing from tho church as tho Grand Central station tho guests will be taken first to the residenco of Mr J. C Nye on Adams and Twenty-sixth street where they will be received at tho White House by George and Martha Mar-tha Washington and tho presidential party, thence to the home of Mr. A B. Weathcrby where amid all tho scenes of Colonial .New England, they will feast on Boston baked beans. At Mrs Johnston's, on Twenty-fifth street, Spanish America will be seon In a visit to New Mexico where Pueb-Jo Pueb-Jo Indians making pottery and Navajo squaws weaving blankets, will vie with the soft-eyed, dark-hatred Mexican Mexi-can maidens in their mantillas and zaropas. All tho glories of tho plantation lifo of the "Sunny South" will bo seen at Mr. S. J. GrifDn's on Twenty-third Twenty-third street. Darky music, grinning nlckannies and cako walks will abound. At Mrs. Frank Poterson's, Twenty-third Twenty-third and Jefferson, will bo the climax- of the tour when the guests will pass through Chinatown, San Francisco, Francis-co, and enter all tho tropical beauties of California. A delightfully sweet little matlneo party that vied in attractiveness with the program and drew the admiring attention of all tho grown-ups in the house was given yesterday afternoon at tho Orpheum. Little Marlon Ec-cles Ec-cles entertained eleven of her small friends In two boxes all by themselves, tho bright faces enhanced by dainty dresses and fluffy bows of ribbon making mak-ing a picture reminding one of a pretty pret-ty little flower garden. Following tho matinee performance refreshments were served at Hupfer's. Covers were laid for twelve and tiny heartshaped boxes of candy and an appropriate valentine marked the place of each guest. A largo, pink rose with stem puncturing a dainty white name card marked tho place of each guest, festoons of sml-lax sml-lax adorned the snowy linen cloth on each tablo and a unique centerplcco was an additional pretty feature. Ices in pink and green, cakes with pink and groon frosting enhanced the tempting menu. High-five was played, tho head prlzo for which was a pretty fruit dish of odd design and tho consolation prize, a doll which surmounted a cunningly cunning-ly concealed ball of twine which made an artistic and useful little souvenir. A novel feifMre of the afternoon was the soap bubble contest for which a handkerchief box In the prevailing colors col-ors was awarded to the winner.
