Show m SOME CASES FOR REFORM. ' " M That there is a great opening for a little reform work in Logan m is evidenced by the following article, which is taken from the Logan H Republican : H "Five girls and four boys related lives of shame in the juvenile H court last Thursday afternoon. Four of the girls were sentenced to m the Industrial school, but sentence was suspended during good be- m havior. Some of these girls are connected with some of the best j families of the city. H -,. "Th6 fUr byS Were brou2ht UP before Judge Brangham last M Thursday, one of them fined $30 and three of them charged with a m statutory offense. They are to plead to the charge later." H This reminds us of a condition that exists in Ogden which needs H the attention of the reformers. It is that found in dance halls on H Saturday nights. From a most reliable source we are advised that H on many occasions young girls have gone to these "Saturday night M socials'; carrying a small flask of liquor with them, and from which m they drink between dances in the dressing room. We are further ad- m vised that the liquor, in a number of cases, was secured from the m wine cellar of tho residences where the girls were employed as do H mestics. Tho conditions that have come to our observation are in H need of immediate attention. |
