Show NO LONGER FEARED The danger of an opldemlc of smallpox small-pox In this city, as the result of the exposures due to tho public funeral held three weeks ago last Sunday at the homo of David Iawson. is now past, according to the statement of tho sanitary authorities, who have been carefull' watching for an outbreak of tho disease. At the time of tho Law-son Law-son child funeral, several members of the family were suffering from the disease in virulent form and yet the nature of their trouble was known neither to the family nor to the friends who wore present as mourners. From the exposures at the funeral, four persons have contracted the disease, dis-ease, but all of these are getting along so well that they are bclioved to be out of danger. The persons stricken strick-en with the malary are J. C. Stephens, 3300 Adams avenue; Mlllla Wood, 2G2 Washington avenue; Horace Garner, 370 Haley avenue, and Iawrenco Jacobs, Ja-cobs, 31f)G Pacific avenue. The case of Mr. Stephens was a most severe one. The victim Is 74 years of age and It was feared that, be cause of his years, ho would not bo able to successfully cope with the disease. dis-ease. Tho danger point, however, has now been passed and the aged man is on the road to recovery. All of the cases are so ttell guarded that it is not believed that any more exposures will result through" them. In addition to these cases there is one other home in the city under quarantine, that of R. T. Smith, 115 West Twenty-third street. It is expected ex-pected that the Smith quarantine will be lifted tomorrow. |
