A crowd of full1 1,600 persons gathered around the automobile from which Grant attempted to speak, and for more than an hour every nttempt to continue bis address was met with a chorus ot hoots and yolls which drowned tho words of tho I orator. It was not until a cordon of police wero rushed to the scene and a number of arrests wore made that Grant was able to continue his speech. After two men had been taken to the police headquarters and booked on disorderly charges, tho half dozen or more ofllcers stationed themselves in tho crowd, and, with tho oxcoption of an occasional hiss or answer to some Interrogation from the "dry" speaker, peace prevailed until the meeting came to an end. The trouble started about S:30 o'clock at the close of a "wet" meeting meet-ing which had been conducted In front of the city building.
