Show H AFTER THE ELECTION. H Now (hat the election is virtually over nnd Ogden is about to H register a strong vote for the "wets." this paper calls attention to H the fact that the law had been so framed that prohibition was made H impossible even though the people had voted "dry." The pro- H hibitionists labored under the tremendous handicap of advocating a H measure which, if voted into effect, would have been inoperative H and have done nothing to lessen the evils of the liquor traffic, and H might have brought about an extreme revulsion of sentiment which H would have given to the true causo of temperance or prohibition a H severe blow. H The city is now under strict regulation and the trade m so con- trolled that the most offensive features have been eliminated. "With H continued rigid enforcement, regulation may prove to be that which H the "drys" were praying and voting for without knowing, and that, H finally, out of this agitation, may come a condition pleasing to all H classes concerned in improving Ogden. |
