Show L. V. T00LS0N SUSTAINED AS BISHOP Succeeds Bishop Hooper Who Was Killed In Accident New Counsel- ors are Sustained. I L. Vern Toolson, who for six years served as mayor of Smith-field, Smith-field, Sunday was sustained as bishop of the Srnithfield Third ward, succeeding Bishop Douglas Hooper, who was killed in a well accident at the California Packing Company plant in Srnithfield last June. Chosen as first counselor in the ward organization was Golden Sorenson, who had been second counselor to Bishop Hooper. Don Chambers was sustained as the new second counselor and Rodney Neilson was retained as ward clerk. Adrian Toolson, first counselor in the former organization was retired. re-tired. A lifelong resident of Smith-field, Smith-field, Bishop Toolson, operates a large irrigated and dairy farm. He was mayor of Srnithfield for 3 terms( retiring last, January. A prominent and active church worker, he served as second counselor coun-selor in the Srnithfield Second ward for 13 years and as first counselor in the Srnithfield Third ward for three years. A. W. Chambers, president of Srnithfield Stake sustained Bishop Toolson. I |
