Show ENLISTMENT OFFICE AT USAC OPEN Former Students May Enlist En-list in Reserve Program Offices in Military Science Building. Enlistment offices of the army reserve corps will be open every weekday from 9 a.m.1 until noon, lieutenant J. Rennell Smith, recruiting re-cruiting officer for the enlistment program told interested prospective ' and former Utah State Agricultural Agricul-tural college students Thursday. Offices are located in the military mili-tary science and tactics building at the college and examinations for enlistment in the program are given every week-day from 10 a.m. until noon, Lt. Smith explained. "Immediate enlistment is open only to students who attended the college spring quarter, and such enlistment depends upon the quality qual-ity of their prevoius college work, upon their demonstrated officerlike officer-like qualifications; and their ability abil-ity to pass the physical examination," examina-tion," the recruiting ofifcer said. Students who enroll at the college col-lege for the first time in. September Septem-ber will not be eligible for enlistment en-listment until they have completed registration, Lt. Smith emphasized. Examinations will be given the new student enrollees during their sophomore year and men who do not meet the educational standards stand-ards or measure up to leadership standards will lose their inactvie status and will be immediately called cal-led to active duty. . College men desirous of duty in the navy, may enlist in the army reserve corps and upon completion 'of two years of basic military science and tactics, resign and 'transfer to class V-5 or V-7 of the navy, Lt. Smith stated. ' ' Jack " Crbf t, dean of men at Utah State Agricultural college, and faculty representative of the joint army-navy personel board( Saturday issued the following formal for-mal statement "to clarify the army enlisted reserve corps program." Citing important details of the plan, Dean Croft said he wished to give students information on the various enlistment reserve programs pro-grams and particularly to those who are looking toward enlistment under the army enlisted reserve plan. His statement follows: "The plan as announced calls for the voluntary enlistment in the army enlisted reserve corps of a certain number of college students stu-dents possessing superior qualifications, qualifica-tions, such students to remain for the time being in an inactive status in order to continue their education. "Somewhat, similar plans have already been announced by the navy and the army air force. All of these plans have been adopted in the belief that further education educa-tion for the purpose of acquiring special knowledge and of developing develop-ing certain definite capacities for leadership will be of substantial value to the army and navy when the men thus enlisted are later called to active duty.
