Show Work Commences On West Highway W. D. Hammond, chairman of the Utah state road commission, has announced that $10,000 will be spent for grading and structures struc-tures on three and one-half miles of road on the Pine valley side of Wlah Wah summit west of Frisco, according to a release from the highway department. Beaver county coun-ty will cooper-ate on this improvement improve-ment by furnishing equipment for the work. Grading of this part of the highway will be of great bene-road bene-road west of Milford as this stretch of road has been about the worst on highway 21. Where the road on the west side of Wah Wah' summit has had a grade of approximately ap-proximately seven per cent,, the new road, located to the south of the present route will not exceed five per cent in grade. Part of the new road will be cut from solid rock. Iron county will also cooperate with the state road commission on three miles of grading and structures struc-tures in Parowan canyon on the Cedar Breaks road. Five miles of this road has been improved and the new work will join the completed project. The cost will be approximately $7500. A like amount of money will be spent by the road commission and Iron county is improving the Bear valley val-ley road between Paragonah and Panguitch. The state road commission is making every effort to improve secondary roads in the outside counties and will continue to spend money for highway improvement im-provement as fast as it is available, avail-able, according to Mr. Hammond. |
