Show Ruminatin i Roundabout ? In which Ruminator proposes, to dream a lot, think as little as necessary, scatter a few bouquets bou-quets while their objectives are still above the sod to enjoy them, anl fire a hot-shot now ami then while said Ruminator Ruminat-or can enjoy seeing the sparks fly. It is with very real pleasure that The News this week presents to its readers the announcement of L. L. "Bish" Taylor of Moab as a candidate for the Republican nomination as representative in congress from the first Utah district. dis-trict. In the 19.10 elections Idaho honored hon-ored the newspaper fraternity of that state by electing C. A. Bot-tolfson Bot-tolfson of Arco to the governorship governor-ship and Henry Dworshak of Hurley as congressman. Both of these gentlemen have "made good" in an eminent way, to the best of our knowledge ftut it is not of their record we are going to speak. In the January 5, 1939 issue of the Milford News, more than 18 months ago, Ruminator commented comment-ed on what Idaho citizens had done and then went on to tell something of what Utah had to offer in the way of newspaper men well fitted for high office. For governor, we suggested the name of this same Mr. Taylor, Republican, Re-publican, publisher of the Moab Times-Independent; and for congressman con-gressman from the first district, we suggested the name of Val H. Cowles, Democrat, publisher of the Price News-Advocate. "Bish" had us send him a number num-ber of extra copies of The News, but, except for hearing of vari-i ous parties who had noted ourj "nominations)," we gave no fur-j ther thought to the matter; j That is, until some two months' ago, when a midnight telephone call from Mr. Taylor ran Rumi-' nator down at a stag card party: to tell us that he had decided to take our suggestion as to going pff the deep end, but was coming out for congress instead of the governorship! A short time later, we read where a petition was out for Cowles, also for congress, but as a Democrat. j BrtJi nominations have been duly filed and will be before the first district electorate in the September primary and it remains now for the voters to have their say. 1T |
