Show MILFORD LIONS AID BOY SCOUTS TO REORGANIZE COMMITTEE APPOINTED TO DIRECT TROOP WORK Milford Lions Club is to assist in the re-organization of the local boy scouts troop I it was voted at the meeting of the club held yesterday noon. The actioo of the Lions results from a request of Henry Bowman, county chairman for the Boy Scouts, and a consequent proposal made at yesterday's meeting by Dr. Charles R. Parrish. The Lions were enthusiatic in their agreement to lend their assistance as-sistance and support in reorganizing the troop for the summer and a committee was appointed to act with Scout master Anderson. Dr. Parrish and Senator) George Jefferson were appointed as joint chairmen, Milton Pool and Harold Cline as thrift men, R. E. Ellingsworth Ellings-worth and LoruS; Hand, on the advancement ad-vancement committee, Dr. Lloyd Koh-ler Koh-ler and I. Altmari, camping, and Dr. Addison Bybee and Clifford H.. Cook, publicity. Duties of Committees The duties of the various committees commit-tees appointed at the meeting as outlined out-lined in the co-operative plan to be adopted by the troop are: The chairman are to act in the ab-sense ab-sense of the scoutmaster, arrange for a meeting place for the troop, and assist the scoutmaster in determining matters of policy. The thrift men are custodians of troop property and direct the financial finan-cial policy. They have charge of the finances of the organization and check expenditures. " The camping men are to assist in planning a camping program and to aid in providing transportation. The advancement men are to encourage en-courage the boys In passing the various var-ious test to achieve higher degrees in the organization. While the publicity men are to establish friendly relations with the schools and the community organizatiens keep the public informed inform-ed through the press of activities of the troop and plan with the scoutmaster scout-master banquets, and other special troop events. To Attend Beaver Meetings In addition to handling the business' regarding the re-organizaztion of the local troop of the scouts, the club members discussed several other matters, mat-ters, among them the plan of choosing choos-ing a member to attend a meeting of the Beaver Lions each month and to invite the Beaver club to respond by lending a member to one Milford meeting during the month. The object ob-ject of the plan is to create better feeling between the two clubs. Dr. Addison Bybee was appointed to represent re-present the Milford Lions at Beaver. It was announced that there would be no meeting of the Lions next Wednesday Wed-nesday because a meeting would be held in South Milford at the community commun-ity club in connection with the Black and White Day that is to be sponsored sponsor-ed on that date. Report on Road Program Mr. Jefferson, one of the four local Lions who attended the Beaver Lion's club meeting Monday reported that the Beaver Lions expressed themselves them-selves as satisfied with the road program pro-gram adopted by the county commissioners commis-sioners for the year. The members were again reminded of the meeting of the Southern Utah Civic Clubs to be held in Marysvale on May 2 and urged to attend. at-tend. Mr. Jefferson and L. A. Wy-naught Wy-naught will be the official representatives representa-tives from the local club. Guest at the meeting was President Pattersol of the Cedar City Lions Club who invited the local members to attend Cedar meetings whenever they happened to be in Cedar. |
