Show Petty for the week. Archie D. Ryan left for Salt Lake last evening. J. H. Witner has been in town the past week doing a good business bus-iness for the Salt Sake Nursery Co. No doubt, that Deseret will look more beautiful when all the trees and shrubery grow. Mr. Clive "the mining Expert" has been sojourning here the past week. He is one of the promoters of the Joy District and just sent a nice car of high grade ore to the smelter. Angus Aired and John Cahoon leave the 10th. for the coast. They will visit both fairs before returning. Among the visitors Monday were Mrs. Rich Cropper, and Mr. and Mrs. Amos Maxfield, old residents of this place. Come again. The Deseret Braves are making mak-ing arrangements to leave for Milford on Friday of this week to play the Milford team. Success Suc-cess boys. Mr. and Mrs- Edgar Petty were down from Lynndyl to spend Independence Day with relatives, also Messrs. George Kelly and Bryan Petty. A birth-day party was given at the home of Mrs. J. M. Moody on Sunday, July 4th. in honor of Mrs.C. A Reed. The rooms were decorated in the national colors, the color scheme being carried out in the menu and place cards. Musical numbers were rendered and ?ocial chats were indulged in for a couple of hours. Each guest was given a piece of birthday birth-day cake on their departure, tied with red, white, and blue ribbon. The . following were present: ' . Messrs. and Mesdames, L. .R. Cropper, Jos. W. Damaron, A. J Henry, H. S Cahoon, Amanda Kelly, Hannah Allred, Geo. and Arthur Cahoon, and Miss Neva Cropper. Deseret Doings Lois, the little 15-month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Western, died last week. The burial took place on Saturday. The family have the sympathy of the entire community. Independence Day was fittingly fitting-ly celebrated yesterday. A splendidly splen-didly arranged ' program was rendered in the fore noon at the A. C. Neilson' building. In the afternoon various sports were given at the City Park, and a game of base ball between Hinckley Hinck-ley and Deseret was played. Both sides played well, Deseret winning by a small majority, the score being 4 to 7. A big. hop in the gymnasium concluded the program for the day.
