Show this year, for Independence. The decoration and stage settings set-tings were beautiful and very suggestive of the Nation's birthday. birth-day. The program was good and especially well rendered. There was nothing pulled off at the park except two ball games, one of which was very close and interesting. in-teresting. We think, however, that there was only one thing nicer in Hinckley that day than the domestic science girls of the Academy, and that was the splendid three course dinner which they served to the Delta band in a quiet, dignified and very pleasant manner. Last Saturday evening we spent at the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. Guss Haumann, as a community, and were entertained enter-tained with games, vocal and instrumental in-strumental music and two good readings by Sarah Folsom and Mrs. Haumann. Misses Edna and Helen Beck left on Tuesday morning for San Francisco to visit their uncle and their sister, Nira. They will of course take in the big fair, but best of all they will attend the "Teacher's National Convention" which is to be held at Frisco this year. Delta had a good crowd on Monday for their celebration. The program at the Hall was fine and I should think enjoyed by every body. The afternoon at the ball ground was very unpleasant un-pleasant with wind and dust. Now look out for the 24th for Delta is going to put her best foot forward and show the people peo-ple the best and biggest time ever and is already making preparations for it. South Tract Review Everything is lovely on the South Tract and Bill Evans still alive. The County Commissioners have just completed a five mile stretch of road, from the southeast south-east corner of section 36 east to ten mile hollow. They have put up a good grade and it will be a fine road after it has has some rain and travel. The drainage proposition for the South Tract, while it will add a little to the payments on the land, will pay back to the farmers farm-ers more quickly and bounteously bounteous-ly than any one thing" that could be done and at the same time will increase the value of these farms many times the cost of the drainage. Let the good work go forward. Our friend and neighbor, Geo. Sampson, even quit the ball team to go and get married. Alright George we don't blame you a bit and we think you picked out a ffne life partner. Be good to her. Clyde Mulvaney has been quite under the weather for about a week, but is coming out of it nicely, now, he thinks.
