Show 7th War Loan Drive Commences West Millard E Bond Quota Set at $135,000 The costliest month of the war to date was March, 1945, and no a-batement a-batement is in sight even with the fall of Germany. Failure to raise as much money in two war bond drives this year as was subscribed in three last year could nullify the anti-inflationary accomplishments of the past six drives. These warnings from Ted R. Gamble, national war bond director, direc-tor, still rang in the ears of nearly 300 Utah war bond leaders, including includ-ing 29 county chairmen, as they prepared this week to "kick-off" the Mighty Seventh War Loan on Monday, May 14. In most counties, E bond quotas are at least doubled and the stimulus stim-ulus of a war bond queen contest has been popularly seized to augment aug-ment the only proven means o selling war bonds, namely, personal person-al contact- house- to- house, farm-to- farm, store- to- store. The drive opens Monday and continues through June 30 with a $20,000,000 E quota as the primary stale goal; an $8,000,00 other-than-E quota next and a $13,000,000 corporation cor-poration and public funds quota set back for concentrated effort starting June 18. County quotas for the Seventh War Loan were announced by Charles L. Smith, s.tate war bond chairman, giving Millard County a quota as follows: E Bonbs, $248,200; other than E bonds, $27,000; public funds, 16,000; corporations, $54,000; making a grand total in the County Coun-ty of $345,200. Eisenhower Bondsl Souvenir war bonds, commemorating commemor-ating V-E day and the general of the hour, will be on sale at all victory vic-tory houses, banks, postoffices and other larger issuing agencies of the state, until 6 p.m., Wednesday. May 16, it was announced today by the Utah War Finance Committee. By special permission of the Federal Fed-eral Reserve Bank, the face of the bonds will be stamped with the inscription, in-scription, "Eisenhower bond," and a five-pointed star, denoting General Gen-eral Eisenhower's rank. They are bonds specially designated desig-nated in honor of America's hero of the hour, the general whose courage cour-age and skill and daring contributed contribut-ed much to the final defeat of Hitler. Hit-ler. Sale of the Eisenhower bonds will be limited to the week of V-E day.For.this reason, they will grow in historic and sentimental value with the passing years, the committee com-mittee believes. Plans will be made this weekend week-end outlining procedure in West Millard to raise the quota of $135,- 000 in E bonds which has been assigned as-signed to this district. Friday afternoon af-ternoon the heads af all the women's wom-en's organizations will meet with Chairman Ashby at the Seminary. That same night the heads of all the communities will meet with the general West Millard committee. commit-tee. At these meetings ways and means of raising tbis huge sum, . 1 almost double the past drive quota, quo-ta, will be discussed. Ho queen has been chosen for West Millard as yet, but as a result of these two meetings they hope to have one or more named from this district. For nomination as queen "nominating" bonds totaling total-ing $5,000 must be bought by her backers so that she may enter the state-wide race. |
