Show Oak City . . . Mrs. Harold Anderson I The people who didn't go to Hin-ickley Hin-ickley or Spanish Fork for the 24th were entertained in the morning by Evan Christensen and his band. The afternoon was spent in swimming swim-ming and a ball game with a picture pic-ture show in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Evan Christensen and Mr. and Mrs. Lennox Finlinson Finlin-son and familes, of Provo, were among the visitors for the 24th. Barbara Anderson, who has been working in Salt Lake, is now home. She has witli her, as a visitor, Miss Darlene Lovell, of Magna. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bennett, of Holden, visited here with relatives last week. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Anderson and daughter, Edith, spent the 24th in Beaver with Mrs. Anderson's relatives. rela-tives. Miss Ramona Finlinson is visiting visit-ing in Provo. LaMae Finlinson visited in Fill- more a week with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson entertained en-tertained Tuesday evening in honor hon-or of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Nielson. Those present besides Mr. and Mrs. Byron Nielson; were Byron's father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nielson and his brother Glen. Oak City was well represented at the excursion to the Manti Temple Tem-ple Friday. Those who went from here were; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lovell, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Dutson, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Shipley, Mr. and Mi s. Reed Lovell, Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Talbot, Tal-bot, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Anderson, And-erson, Mr. and Mrs. Elvon Ander- son, Lorenzo Lovell and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Pratt. Mr. and Mrs. Pratt remained in Manti to visit a few days with Mr. Pratt's mother. A large crowd attended the wedding wed-ding dance Friday night for Mr. and Mrs. Basil Talbot. The young couple received many lovely gifts. Relatives of the bride and the groom who came for the dance were the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hone and her brother, of Benjamin, Ben-jamin, and Basil's brothers and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Talbot and family, of Magna, Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Talbot, of Torrey, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Talbot, of Delta, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Talbot, of Hinckley, Hinck-ley, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wells, of Clearfield and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Skeems, of Oasis. Music for the dance was furnished by the Nelson Nel-son sisters, from California. Faye Alldredge, Geniviene Anderson And-erson and Helen Anderson returned return-ed home after several days visit in Salt Lake and Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Newell Day and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Finlinson, of Fillmore, Fill-more, visited Mr. and Mrs. George E. Finlinson Sunday, the occasion being Mrs. Finlinson's birthday. Sunday afternoon lightning hit and started a forest fire in the hills between Oak City and Fool Creek. A large group of men were called to fight the fire and were finally able to extinguish it after it had destroyed about 500 acres of forest growth. Speakers at the Sunday evening even-ing service were Mrs. Margaret W. Roper and Miss Merlene Lovell.. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Mathews spent several days last week visiting visit-ing friends in Los Angeles. They returned re-turned home Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Milan Jacobson and children spent three days last week in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Lem Lovell, of Richfield, Rich-field, visited here Sunday. Friday evening, August 2, a wedding wed-ding dance and shower will be held in Oak City for Mr. and Mrs. John DeLapp, the former Shirley Harris. Music will be furnished by the Christensen orchestra. Everyone is invited to attend. |
