Show Millard County Reunion Draws Large Crowd The unexpected large attendenceN at the Millard County Reunion surprises sur-prises the 10000 to 1500 present. Held at Fairmont beautiful Park July 22. 850 two page announcement and mailing list sent to that many family fam-ily heads. Figuring four to the family fam-ily fully 3500 Millardians live in this vicinity. East and West side had two ball teams and played Softball until dark. Also other games. The seating capacity and tables were over crowded and many had to stand, eat in cars and on the grass. It was a jolly crowd where lots of friends met in the space of a few hours that would have taken a year or more in social visits. The west side seemed if possible to estimate es-timate have the larger present. All talked, visited, sang, danced and cut up. The fac-simile copy of Lincolns Gettesburg address in his own hand writing was awarded to Mrs. Lewis Dorius for having five and the most sons in the armed service of War II. More than sixty mothers present had one or more sons in the -service. A surprisingly large number had four. It was a big jamboree with more talking and visiting than listening. An index of how all wanted to cooperate and work they in short order took up a collection for more than the expenses which were only $72. New officers are; Mr. Marion J. Greenwood, President; Mr. DeWard Hopkins, Vice-presiden; Mrs. Frank Pritchett, Sec. and Treas. Reported by Charles Kimball, Retiring Re-tiring President. P. S. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis S. Dorius' five sons were inducted at Fillmore. Fill-more. Mr. Dorius taught school at Delta for many years and knows most of the Westsiders in Salt Lake City. |
